The Spot Community Services Ltd began in 1996 as an initiative of Southside Community Church, and later registered as a limited not for profit company with a non-sectarian approach to its activities. Initially The Spot was a youth drop-in centre based in an empty warehouse and a volunteer staff of five people.
In 2007 The Spot offers the Logan community various therapeutic children's programs through its Spot for Kidz arm and a growing number of youth programs via the Youth Services arm. Youth Services is also involved in setting up a number of innovative social enterprises consisting of its Starving Kids record label, an indoor rock climbing gym, Spot FM, Embassies such as a graphic arts business and recording studio, a non traditional school for high school level in partnership with Queensland Education and a number of other exciting ventures.
The Spot facilitates collaboration with other organisations as well spearheading the development of Nightspot Australia which aims to reduce teenage homelessness.
The Spot is currently staffed by over 30 employees and a number of dedicated volunteers and serves approximately 500 young people and families in any given week.
